"Hey, Dude!"

Remember the Dell dude? Too bad he's not still around, because if he was, he could tell you all about what his former employer is up to these days. Maybe that Free Printer wasn't FREE after all?

"Bangalore? Is that near Waco?"

Don't get us wrong. Dell is a great Texas based company, and they make some fine products, but they have really messed up when it comes to their branded printers and the supplies they use. It boils down to this: Dell has become greedy, and they want to keep the ink and toner business exclusively to themselves. They are not allowing national wholesalers and/or distributors to stock their printer supplies, thereby forcing you to buy only from Dell. That might be o.k. if you live down the street from Dell headquarters in Round Rock. Then maybe you could hurry down and find some ink or toner when you run out. Otherwise, you get to talk to a Dell customer service rep in Bangalore, India and order your supplies. And then wait....and wait....and wait...for 3 to 5 days...without being able to use your printer. Or you could pay $19.90 (or more) in shipping charges to get your supplies next day. That's a great deal...you have to pay extra to use something you own when you need to use it!!

"Not even close."

"WHAT!!! But I need it NOW !"

"Thanks, but NO THANKS!"

If you buy a computer system from Dell and they offer you a free printer, tell them "NO THANKS!!" and have them throw in something else. If it's too late and you already have a Dell printer, either dispose of it, or try to wear it out and replace it as quickly as possible.

"So what brand should I get?"

It depends on a number of things, and we will address that issue in depth in a future advertisement. The simple answer is that you should never have problems getting supplies for Hewlett Packard, Epson, or Canon.

Check out some of these Dell Horror Stories! and note how many folks are complaining about availability of supplies....

Epilogue:

The good news is that we carry or have access to supplies for almost all major equipment brands (other than Dell!) and even if we don't stock the supplies for your printer in our retail store, they're normally available next day, when the truck arrives from our Dallas warehouse.

There are some companies attempting to refill or offer altered cartridges for some Dell printer models, but in general the quality of these products is not up to standard.

It really is a shame that Dell has undertaken a policy that is a disservice to their customers, and in the long run can do nothing but harm them. We have seen a mom nearly in tears because her daughter had an important school paper due the next day, and she could not get ink for their Dell printer. Most people are furious when they realize that the only way to get Dell printer supplies is to wait for days, or pay for expensive next day delivery. It would not even be so bad if Dell didn't deceive folks by not being very clear about the supplies situation before giving them a "free" or reduced cost printer.

We just don't like having to tell folks we can't help them when they really do need supplies for their Dell printer.....dude.
